Business Alliance ‘not just for businesses’

By Bill Helm at CVBugle

CAMP VERDE – In February, the Camp Verde Business Alliance formally introduced itself to the Verde Valley with a mixer at J. T. Bistro in Camp Verde.

Wednesday, the community’s new business support group will officially present its business plan to the Camp Verde Town Council.

Ed Lee and B. J. Davis will represent the CVBA at council’s regular session “not to look for anything,” said Lee, the organization’s founder and CEO, but to make sure “council knows that we are here, what we want to do and when we want to do it.”

“And we’ll try to say it all in 15 minutes or less,” Lee said.

The purpose of the CVBA is “three-fold,” said Davis, the organization’s president.

“First, we’re here to help businesses, to be an advocate for them, to help promote them,” Davis said. “We’re also here to assist the Town with initiatives that help the economic environment. And we’re here to build positive relationships between the businesses and the town.”

But the Camp Verde Business Alliance is “not just for businesses,” Lee added. Though membership for businesses – known as partners – cost $50, associate memberships are few and are “ideal for high school students or anyone who might want to become a business owner one day.”

Steve Ayers, the Town’s Economic Development Director, said he hopes to see the CVBA “succeed and become a viable voice for the business community.”

“And I look forward to working with them and helping them bring that plan to fruition,” Ayers said. “It would be nice to have an organization that can present the business community’s concerns and desires without having to knock on individual doors.”

Also Wednesday, council could approve a wine festival license for the March 18-19 Spring Heritage Pecan and Wine Festival.

The March 1 council regular session will be held at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, located at 473 S. Main St., suite 106.
